    Sunday 29th July, 10am-4pm
    with Julia Phillips

This workshop is suitable for adults of all levels. You will learn how to manipulate your fabric in preparation for dyeing using a variety of techniques such as twisting, folding and pleating, as well as some stitched resists. The tutor shall have an Indigo vat set up if you love the 'blues', as well as a selection of Procion dyes for those of you who wish to use multi-colours.

Julia shall have some samples for you to have a look at and small pieces of fabric to experiment with. If you would like to dye your own t-shirts, then please do bring them along, but please ensure that they are 100% cotton otherwise the dyes will not take. If you have some previous experience of Shibori resist techniques and indigo dyeing, perhaps you would like to try new fabrics or incorporate it into an existing project.

Please bring any cellulose-based fabric (muslin, Egyptian cotton, calico, cotton velvet or silk) and t-shirts as mentioned above. An apron and rubber gloves are also required, and, if you wish to try Shibori stitched resists, a basic sewing kit (a needle, strong thread and scissors) . Extra fabric, dyes and other necessary materials, as well as clear instruction sheets, will be provided.
