Yoga is a system of self development that originated in India thousands of years ago.

It is the science of healthy living and covers all aspects of life. Hatha yoga deals with the physical and mental side of our being, encouraging the body and its systems to be balanced and consequently healthy.

Hatha Yoga’s effectiveness works because it is a holistic practice. The Postures help build strength and flexibility while reducing tensions in the body, encouraging it to relax. The breathing techniques (pranayama) help to build energy and increase the flow of oxygen and blood to the vital organs and relaxation techniques allow the body to absorb the work that came before and encourage the body to retain a feeling of calm and cope at times of stress.

    With Deadre Appleton

    7:00 - 8:00 pm: Beginners (Level 1) Classical style
    8:00 - 9:00pm: Improvers (Level 2) Classical style
    9:00 - 9:45pm: Anuket Rehearsal

Helping you to feel good about yourself, get fit and have fun whatever your age, shape or size.

Deadre Appleton believes that people only exercise regularly when they feel comfortable and when it ceases to become a chore. By welcoming and integrating all ages, shapes and sizes, keeping the atmosphere light and fun, and by developing friendships and a sense of community, dancers no longer feel they have to come to class to ‘work out’ but rather to enjoy themselves.

Deadre welcomes any student dancer to become a member of Anuket,a student performance troupe. Anuket performs at local events including fetes and fundraisers, and, wherever possible, raising money for Macmillan Cancer Care. Students of all levels, from complete beginners upwards, are welcome to join. The only criteria is a commitment to develop yourself in the dance and regular attendance at rehersals. If you do join you will find that your confidence will grow along with your strength, flexibility and skill.

Classical classes mainly use choreography to teach all different styles of belly dance from many areas of the Middle East.
