    Plus support from Matt Edwards

    The whole band, in its entirety, creates a luxurious and irresistible sound, displaying great skills and artistic finesse. Zoë Schwarz’ dynamic and commanding vocal delivery is both eclectic and suave at the same time; just like a chameleon, one part Janis Joplin, one Billie Holiday, and one Nina Simone.

    The band’s exciting live set is based around rootsy originals: Strong catchy riffs, interesting arrangements, and exciting grooves featuring Rob Koral's electrifying, and unmistakable touch and flow on guitar. The highly accomplished rhythm section of Pete Whittaker-Hammond organ and Paul Robinson-drums (Nina Simone, Van Morrison, The Proclaimers, Paul McCartney to name a few) bring massive musical authority and the ability to push the music in unpredictable and exciting directions.

    Zoë Schwarz Blue Commotion have made a considerable impact these last five years, and is one of the band’s that have added a fresh approach and vibrancy to the UK Blues. They are finalists in two categories in the 2018 UK Blues Awards.

    Matt Edwards

    Supporting Zoe will be Matt Edwards. Matt is a songwriter/vocalist/guitarist that stands out in the UK Blues scene. John Verity is the man and musician who is ‘blue to his soul’ and has been one of the most consistent performers on the British blues rock circuit for many years, since the early days opening for Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin and others in the US and then his time as singer and guitarist with ARGENT.

    After many years spent primarily in the studio recording and guesting with musicians who have included Colin Blunstone, Ringo Starr, Motorhead, Saxon and The Zombies, John is experiencing a musical renaissance; over the last few years he has travelled the length and breadth of the UK pleasing old friends and gaining new fans.

    “Nothing compares to seeing JV live, up close and personal or on stage, as John's guitar playing and singing is a joy to behold. What marks him out from others is his timing and feel which are close to perfection.”

    “Great songs and great performances, John not only has a great voice for his material but his exceptional guitar playing almost segues voice and guitar into one.”

    “That voice really sings and the guitar talks. He just gets better and better. How does he keep improving? - The singing, the playing and the writing? – Talent!”
    “You are left under no illusion that you are in the hands of a proper musician and vocalist who would have no problem filling a stadium, packing out any club and bringing a festival audience to their feet. Go see him!”
    “This festival truly can throw up some magical moments, in 2016 I saw The John Verity Band for the first time, his set was absolutely amazing and his rendition of Hendrix’s ‘Purple Haze’ was breath taking. So much that I can truly say I've travelled the length and breadth of these islands to see him since including North Scotland, Glasgow, Whitehaven and Minehead. He re-kindled my passion for blues rock, not bad for an auld metalhead! Thank you so much John and I look forward to seeing you again soon.”
    The John Verity Band features:

    Guitar & vocals-John Verity, Drums-Liam James Gray and on bass, chosen from a selection of highly accredited players including Roger Inniss (Blues Caravan, Laurence Jones, Elkie Brooks, Malone Sibun Band) John Gordon (Bernie Marsden, Alan Price amongst others) and Bob Skeat (Wishbone Ash).

    In John’s words, ‘Whatever I do is always going to have a blues/rock edge and I feel that this is the thread which ties it all together’.

    The Big Dez Band have recently released a new CD titled ‘Last Train’ which features the legendary Lucky Peterson and Sax Gordon. They will be playing a selection of songs from ‘Last Train’ as well as songs from their previous albums.

    Guitarist Big Dez (Phil Fernandez) plays guitar with the chilling intensity of Albert Collins and Johnny Guitar Watson, and writes great blues and rock n roll songs. Whether jamming with Lucky Peterson in the clubs of Paris or playing at the larger European blues festivals, Big Dez and his band deliver a great performance every time.

    Big Dez has been treading the boards for nearly 20 years across Europe and subsequently North America, mixing soulful, funky blues with traditional foot tappin’ blues grooves and rock ‘n’ roll. He took several trips to the U.S, helping him create an electric blues style, few this side of the Atlantic can match. He plays Albert Collins esque icy guitar licks and has a striking, powerful personality and voice, often likened to Omar Kent Dykes. Big Dez learned how to play the blues during a multitude of jam sessions and playing jobs in Chicago and Texas with the likes of Luther Allison, WC Clark, Billy Branch, Chicago guitarist, ‘Killer’ Ray Allison, Mike Cross, Tracy Conover, Alan Haynes and harmonica player Paul Orta. He’s also played alongside Texas legend Uncle John Turner (drummer with Johnny Winter & Lightnin' Hopkins), Lucky Peterson and recorded with the Fabulous Thunderbirds bassist Preston Hubbard and US sax virtuoso Sax Gordon.

    “Fernandez’s slashing guitar combines Albert Collins’ icy tension with Johnny ‘Guitar’ Watson¹s metallic crunch, and vocals like Omar Kent Dykes” Blues Revue USA .

    The Unravelling Wilburys, a band of good ‘ol boys, turn their skills and replicate the sound and songs of the late 80s ‘super-group’ The Traveling Wilburys, where five of the greatest names in rock music history came together: George Harrison, Roy Orbison, Tom Petty, Bob Dylan and Jeff Lynne of ELO and completed two Wilburys albums, Volumes One and Three though, sadly, Roy Orbison had passed away before Volume Three was recorded.

    So… welcome to Thumper, Blind Melon, Sticky Willy, Walter and Javelin … The Unravelling Wilburys. In a former guise as top Beatles project, Sgt Pepper’s Only Dart Board Band, (The Flab Five), they had toured for 21 years playing at UK festivals, including Glastonbury, and at theatres and music venues across Europe and the UK. They also headlined at a Beatles festival at Montgomery, Alabama.

    Their shows feature the boys take on their songs being usurped by Messrs Harrison, Dylan, Lynne, Orbison and Petty, back in the late 80s at Nashville, Tennessee. The story unravels, as is told in the show, and it comes to be that The Unravelling Wilburys have now stolen back what is rightfully theirs! Not only that, they have stolen some choice solo songs (allegedly) from Messrs Dylan, Lynne, Orbison, Harrison and Petty as compensation... and now happily play them in their shows!

    OTWAY AND BARRETT
    Nearly Free

    This magnetic bond still holds after more than 40 years of attempted escapes and still loved for their total in-yer-face originality.

    The contrast between the dead pan humour of Barrett and mad onstage antics of Otway are hilarious to watch. John’s lyrical genius and Willy’s outstanding musicianship (he seems to play almost every stringed instrument known to man, plus a few hybrids of his own making!)
    Ever keen to add a new dimension to the show, Willy has a new addition to his array of instruments. Beware the Moose Homp!!

    Willy’s interest in making instruments began when he commandeered two guitars made by his dad in 1965. One from an old guitar neck and a scaffold plank which became affectionally known as the Les Dawson, as opposed to the Les Paul, and the other branded the Mk1 Schitstik electric slide of similar pedigree. These instruments were used on many of the early tracks,(including Really Free and Racing Cars)
    Was the Last Straw Tour of 2017 to be the end? Willy’s remark “this will be the last time that many of you will see us together again” was often hastily misinterpreted as the final throw of the dice, but the reason given “it’s not us packing up, it’s you lot dying off, you know who you are!” was often overlooked by eager scribes. And so the rumours abound.

    For any Otway/Barrett virgins out there who don’t know what to expect, be prepared for everything from bare-chested theremin playing to wah wah wheelie bin as the duo jump from one hit and 40 near misses to another: An amazing and irreverent performance by two master entertainers.

    Don’t miss this opportunity to celebrate the early songs of the influential progressive rock band Genesis with leading UK tribute band The Book of Genesis, who faithfully recreate the 1970s era complete with period musical instruments, fabulous costumes, an animated slide show, and atmospheric synchronised lighting in a packed 3-hour show.

    Nigel Betteridge (as Peter Gabriel/Phil Collins) has many years of experience singing the early Genesis songs. This coupled with the theatrical costumes and masks that Gabriel used (including
    “The Flower”, “Bat Wings”, “Magog”, “Crested Britannia” and more) makes for a truly dramatic performance;
    Howard Boder (as Tony Banks) our classically trained keyboards maestro, has gone to a lot of trouble to re-create the early ‘Genesis/Banks’ keyboard sounds. Generous to a fault, Howard tells you how to get these vintage sounds on YouTube (now with over 99,000 hits);

    Bob Arnold (as Steve Hackett) with his Les Paul Gold Top as his main instrument is a hard core devotee of Steve Hackett’s work (including both electric and acoustic repertoires) – marvelling at his jaw-dropping rendition of the Firth of Fifth solo is one of many highlights!

    Kirk Watson (as Mike Rutherford) not only has a multi-instrumentalist role (‘Rickenbacker’ double neck-bass/12-string, bass guitar, bass pedals, 12 string acoustic guitar), but sings backing vocals too – his contribution is, quite simply, awesome!

    Russ Wilson (as Phil Collins) hailing from the sensational Yes tribute band “Fragile”, Russ is unquestionably an incredable drummer. As a pro drummer and teacher, he brings technical authenticity and sensitivty to the role.

    David Sinclair Four ( DS4 )

    The David Sinclair Four aka DS4 have roots in blues and rock but with a greater eclectic mix of songs than many bands in the genre. The band is led by singer songwriter guitarist David Sinclair and lead guitarist Geoff Peel. David Sinclair has released five albums and is a IRL recording artist. The latest DS4 release ‘Sweet Georgina’ has had superb reviews and David says;

    “I first came across Georgina in the 1960s. She was a flower child and a femme fatale. She hung out somewhere in the south of England with the Stones and Hendrix and Zeppelin. But her memories stretched back much further, and she could see far into the future. Georgina is eternal. A muse who is music. She's always around when I'm writing songs and working with the DS4. She has become our patron saint. This was the most difficult album I've ever made. The rhythm section emigrated. My wife got ill. I broke my finger three days before we started recording. But I could hear Georgina's call - loud, clean and clear as a bell. Music saves nothing; not your band or your loved ones and least of all your soul. But it breaks through the walls and ceilings and barriers that keep you stuck inside and it shows you the sky. Sweet Georgina loves you all.”

    As a writer and columnist for The Times, Rolling Stone and Billboard, he has chronicled the rock 'n' roll years and now takes centre stage with his band to tell his own musical tale as well as revisiting songs by blues masters from Chuck Berry to Stevie Ray Vaughan. The band make frequent appearances on the London music scene playing at such iconic venues as The Borderline, The 100 Club, The Dublin Castle plus appearances at festivals across the UK.

    Deep Blue Sea

    Deep Blue Sea create new shoots from the old roots, taking the blues out for a walk in the sun and the rain, telling tales from the lives we are all living - playing music for the moment we are in. Deep Blue Sea return to The Limelight after their successful debut appearance playing their funky, soulful blues mix led by Los Angeles vocalist Dregas.

    "Funky, invisible reggae, rockabilly, guitar driven fretboard dexterity, pain and grief and Rock and Roll - you'll love this blues tinged rock without any flotsam and jetsam, once again, the SEA giving up its riches."
    Blues in Britain - 'Live It Up' album review

    "The quality of the playing alone would put this gig up there with the best but this is also great fun; the band obviously enjoy themselves and audiences will always pick up on that. Great performances and big smiles all around the room - that’s a good combination for a great night." Music Riot

    "A breathtaking performance from Deep Blue Sea with a flawless mix of original songs featuring a soulful harmonic voice and driving guitar - we knew this was something special from the first song to the sudden rush to buy CDs at the end." Andy Davies, promoter Woodlands Blues Club
