    For 10 - 14 years

    Fancy learning to sew? An informal environment that aims to let you work at your own pace, giving you skills and confidence to use a sewing machine and to have a go at making your own clothes /accessories.

    Aims and Content
    This workshop aims to give young people the opportunity to learn basic construction skills and sewing machine techniques.
    During the workshop students will learn by constructing a messenger bag, the tutor will demonstrate and teach techniques such as seams, reading a pattern, tacking, patchwork and hand sewing. Following the initial project students can choose to continue and use their own shop bought pattern to construct an item of their choice.

    Additional costs will be for threads, fabrics and patterns, there are a limited number of sewing machines for student use.

    For ages 13+

    Create your own piece of ceramic work using hand building techniques. No experience is necessary - please bring an old shirt or apron. All materials will be available in class (the price of clay and firing is dependent on the weight of the piece).

    Make bowls, mugs, plates and vases or sculpt interesting pieces of ceramic work for you art portfolios. Bring along your ideas and the tutor will guide you in realising them.

    Suitable for ages 13+

    This brand new class is perfect for anyone with a love of drawing and cartoons.

    Led by tutor John North, the class offers students a chance to practice their drawing skills, develop new techniques and learn how to design and create their very own cartoon characters.

    Students are recommended to bring their own drawing materials.

    Suitable for ages 16-21
    Presented by Nu Start Community Enterprise

    This one-week course is ideal for anyone interested in film making. Suitable for complete beginners or those with an existing passion for film, this class will cover all aspects of film production and give you a chance to make your very own short film with guidance from experienced tutors and filmmakers.

    Theory classes will cover the basics of film making, directing and cinematography, as well as brief history of film, whilst practical workshops will explore audio and lighting, choosing the right lens, script writing and development, casting, production planning, location filming, editing and grading.

    PLEASE NOTE: This course lasts for five days, it was previously listed as four in our seasonal brochure

    Come and enjoy the opportunity to create some larger interesting hand build pieces, or develop and practice your throwing skills.

    The course is ideal for novice potters looking to spend quality time learning additional skills. Cake included!
