    'Silent Screams'
    by Learning Through the Arts

‘Silent Screams’ is a captivating story of courage, resistance and self–sacrifice.

Set in Nyasaland (Malawi) in 1917, a church minister’s attempt to stop the forced conscription of local men into the army brings him in conflict with the might of the colonial authority.

Through a blend of audience participation, African drumming, and physical theatre, the audience are taken on a journey based on a true story less told.

‘Silent Screams’ brings to the fore the involvement of Africans in the Great War, just as it replicates the conflict amongst European powers in their African colonies.

“Very engaging play with great performances and the live African drum was a great touch which added to the atmosphere.”

“Thought provoking and interactive, engaging and emotional.”

“Gave me a glimpse into a true unknown story. Well thought out and put together. Well done!”

Grab your woolly hat and prepare to let it snow – Queens Park Arts Centre’s traditional family pantomime is off to a winter wonderland this year…

Once upon a time there was a mirror which reflected all the evils of the world and turned people’s hearts to ice. The glass was smashed long, long ago – but now the fiendish Snow Queen and her dim-witted accomplices have a plan to put the pieces back together…

It’s up to brave young friends Kai and Gerda to stop the wicked queen bringing about the eternal winter. Along the way they’ll meet sinister snowflakes, a motley crew of giant bugs, and even Old Father Time himself.

A thrilling adventure lies ahead – but just how does the story end…?

A light-hearted, music hall-inspired pantomime spectacular, this year’s show is packed full of side-splitting slapstick, delightful dances, silly songs, and truly magical handmade sets, costumes, props and puppets from the artists and makers of Queens Park Arts Centre.

The show is produced by Queens Park’s in-house production company Unbound, and once again features amazing dance routines choreographed and performed by the Susan Diane School of Dance.

    Show Run-time (incl. interval): 2hrs

Praise for previous Queens Park pantomimes

"Truly brilliant, we laughed ourselves silly."

"It was stunning - the professionals couldn't out-do you."

"Absolutely fantastic. My children loved it and will be talking about it for quite a long time to come. Thanks to all the cast & crew who made it such a brilliant night."
